چکیده

Additive manufacturing (AM) is an innovative technology that offers the ability to build parts with both geometric and material complexities. However, limitations, including low volume capability production rate, yield its rapid application in high production. This paper presents potential of remote laser welding (RLW) as a post-AM joining approach scale up AM components. The AlSi10Mg alloy was fabricated by direct metal sintering subsequently joined RLW without filler wire or shielding gas. A novel adjustable ring mode (ARM) beam employed during process where designed stabilize keyhole providing preheating postheating while core guarantees sufficient weld penetration. impact ARM on porosity evaluated fillet lap bead-on-plate configurations, accompanied variation core/ring power ratios. Crack-free welds promising appearance were obtained among all trials, indicating ARM-RLW can be for robust connection alloys. Optimizing ratio substantially reduce area from 24.3% 13.5% configuration 24.2% 14.4% configuration. Analysis variance tests statistically confirmed significant ratio. Future work has been suggested maturation industrial application.

Laser beam welding of titanium additive manufactured parts

In this paper the joinability of titanium Additive Manufactured (AM) parts is explored. Keyhole welding, using a pulsed laser beam, of conventionally produced parts is compared to AM parts. Metal AM parts are notorious for having remaining porosities and other non-isotropic properties due to the layered manufacturing process. This study shows that due to these deficiencies more energy per unit ...

Laser Welding of Aluminium Alloy 5083

There are two laser welding mechanisms, keyhole mode and conduction mode. Keyhole welding is widely used because it produces welds with high aspect ratios and narrow heat affected zones. However keyhole welding can be unstable, as the keyhole oscillates and closes intermittently. This intermittent closure causes porosity due to gas entrapment. Conduction welding, on the other hand, is more stab...

Planning of remote laser welding processes

The paper discusses the technical background of the remote laser welding (RLW) technology, its novel opportunities and implications for planning processes. Our ultimate goal is to develop a complete off-line programming toolbox for RLW which can provide an automated method for computing close-to-optimal robot programs. We suggest a workflow for the complete planning process, and propose new mod...

Characterization of an Additive Manufactured TiAl Alloy—Steel Joint Produced by Electron Beam Welding

In this work, the characterization of the assembly of a steel shaft into a γ-TiAl part for turbocharger application, obtained using Electron Beam Welding (EBW) technology with a Ni-based filler, was carried out. The Ti-48Al-2Nb-0.7Cr-0.3Si (at %) alloy part was produced by Electron Beam Melting (EBM). This additive manufacturing technology allows the production of a lightweight part with comple...
